Abstract

The temperature and concentration dependence of the density of the system Ca(NO3)2-KNO3-H2O was studied over a temperature range from -20 to +75 °C and for concentrations given by ionic fractions of the potassium salt of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5. The mole fraction of salts ranged from 0.052 to 0.27. The temperature and concentration dependence of calculated molar volumes has been correlated with an empirical equation, assuming additivity of the molar volumes of the salts. Deviations from the additivity principle are discussed and their quantitative description is proposed.
