Abstract
(E)-2-Ar-1-(5-nitro-2-furyl)ethylenes (where Ar is O2N-C6H4- or H5C2OOC-C6H4-) were prepared by reaction of aryldiazonium salts with 3-(5-nitro-2-furyl)-2-propenoic acid or 2-bromo-1-(5-nitro-2-furyl)ethylene. Photochemical modification of the Meerwein reaction was also checked.
