Abstract

Pyridine heterocycles occupy a unique position in medicinal chemistry. The naturally occurring B6 vitamine (pyridoxol, pyridoxal, pyridoxamine), some alkaloids and coenzymes contain pyridine nucleus. Many thienopyridine derivatives have been investigated because of the various biological activities such as against diabetes mellitus, as analgetics, anti-inflammatories, sedatives, and anticoagulants.
